KrellMuse was a cassette release from Mystified, back in 2007. I am very happy to have the opportunity to make the fully remastered piece available again. The Krell were an ancient race from the film Forbidden Planet, who seemed to haunt the planet surface, and the catacombs underneath. KrellMuse asks the question– if the Krell were to write music for humans, how would it sound? Probably a lot like this release– gritty, droney, and mysterious. Drifting drones, weird electronic sounds, gentle melodies and pulsating beats are the unique blend that make up this astonishing collaborative work. acoustic guitar, saxophone, prepared piano - Roberto Lazzarino electronics, voice, production - Ars Sonor Cover photo by Roberto Lazzarino ( 1 reviews ) Topics: ambient, dark ambient, ambient drone, soundscape, drone, organic drone, meditation
We are pleased to release this first collaboration between two drone ambient talents. >"In many ways, a collaboration between Wavespan and The Ghost Between the Strings is long overdue. Both artists have released music on Treetrunk and Webbed Hand, both artists specialize in ambient drone, and both use organic sounds as the sources for these drones. While Wavespan has utilized gongs, bridges, bells, Tibetan singing bowls, pianos, and metal sculptures to produce his drone works, TGBTS... A collaborative effort, these fascinating drone-ambient works are made with trombone and processed guitar. "Ghostbone was recorded in late Winter of 2011 by French guitarist The Ghost Between The Strings and American trombonist Mystified. No synths were used. Only acoustic sources are in this release. Some sounds were processed before mixed, and a random function in the processing tool was heavily used, to add chance to the palette of tools on board. Mystified would like to add that these... While further exploring electro-acoustic territory, the two artists i AM esper and Mystified decided to collaborate. i AM esper is known for playing humming baritone guitar drones, and Mystified, more recently, for creating ambient drone textures from trombone notes. i AM esper laid down 5 nice tracks and Mystified remixed them, re-composing and processing the sounds. The result, Treetrunk feels, is quite powerful, covering emotions from total bliss to deep despair. Somehow the use of... A very topical release, melophobia has crafted a dark ambient meditation in direct response to the escalating post-earthquake crisis in Japan. This selection of dark ambient soundscapes was produced over the course of several days, as the artist beheld news stories of the unfolding catastrophe following the great earthquake and resultant tsunami which struck Japan in March of 2011. With each day the scope of the tragedy expanded, as the loss of life, of whole towns, was estimated, and the... The first release on Unknown Landscapes Records is also the debut EP of the Labels founder. “Tides of Hope” is a meditating and droning voyage into the inner self. It consists of evolving and shivering soundscapes derived from relaxing experiences by the sea. Slightly dark but also hopeful feelings arise while drifting off to these sounds. Mystified, ever experimenting and innovating, has created a collection of drone-ambient works derived entirely from trombone sounds. "For each of these 5 pieces I played a long note on the trombone, trying hard to get a good tone, and holding the note as long as I could. I then processed the notes. The software I used had a "randomize" feature, and I used that a lot for the processing. Each song you hear is a single note on a real trombone processed randomly, then re-composed in... Further exploration of atmospheric improvisations on heavily effected guitar characterize this sequel to "The Goat Encompasses." Ice Guild Kaiser is a recording project of C.P. McDill and is a sub-project of Saluki Regicide in ways that are difficult to define. Is it a variant personality, a mutation, a doppelganger, or an entirely new form of life? Still finding its way, perhaps we shall see it mature into its own person, though we are aware that the apple seldom falls far from the... Dark, atmospheric improvisations on heavily effected guitar are at the heart of "The Goat Encompasses" by Ice Guild Kaiser. Ice Guild Kaiser is a recording project of C.P. Mystified concludes his collection of drone-ambient works derived entirely from trombone sounds, a landmark trilogy expanding an already very diverse discography. "Bone Drones 3", the concluding part of the Bone Drone trilogy, is darker than the first part and less abrasive than the second. All 4 pieces were created from 3 notes played on a muted trombone, then processed and mixed. I tried to focus a little more on progressions and chord structures on this release. There's lots of... Mystified continues his collection of drone-ambient works derived entirely from trombone sounds, this time with a prehistoric theme. "Bone Drones 2: Prehistory" is an essay in brass on the times when giants walked the earth. The main source for this release was a single, very high-pitched tone played on Mystified's trombone. This sound was recorded and processed into different sounds, with varying qualities. The resulting sounds were layered and mastered. Mystified dedicates these... Further explorations of the dronescape by Mystified with his remarkable blue plastic trombone. Bone Drones has by now become an open-ended quest to find the sonic possibilities of the trombone as a drone instrument. "For Bone Drones 5, Mystified brought in some new elements. One was Paulstretch-- some of the pBone sounds were stretched before they were further effected, giving them more of a string-like quality. Another was bits and pieces of an ancient opera recording, highly warped and... ( 1 reviews ) Topics: Mystified, ambient, dark ambient, drone, ambient drone, organic drone, acoustic drone, soundscape
Following on the success of Mystified's "Bone Drones" series comes a new collection of drone works, this time drawing its sounds entirely from a wooden overtone flute. "In August of 2011, Thomas of mystified purchased an overtone flute from artist Steve Brand. The flute, when played, hits a single note on various octaves. It produces a nice, breathy tone. Thomas immediately became interested in using sounds from the flute to create acoustic drones. Each of the 5 pieces in... Mystified has expanded the original Bone Drones trilogy into new territory thanks to the acquisition of a new instrument. A recently invented trombone called the Jiggs pBone has revolutionized the world of "brass" instruments. Although it is constructed of plastic, it is capable of the rich tones and volume of its traditional metallic cousin. It is in its lighter weight and less brassy overtones that new possibilities occur, and thusly inspired, Thomas Park of Mystified has undertaken...
